Subject to budget approval, the Institute of Economics at the Center for Economics, Finance and Management Studies (CEFMS) seeks to hire multiple full-time faculty members at the Assistant Professor level. Hunan University (Est. 976, Changsha, China) is a national “985 project” university and has a long history of being a top-tier research institution in China. The University founded CEFMS in 2013 as an international platform for research and education in economics, finance and management science. We invite applicants with research interests in any field of economics. Preference will be given to those with high-quality publications/working papers. Other duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising graduate students, and serving on committees. Applicants must have a PhD degree in economics by August 2015. Compensation is competitive and includes a research fund and housing subsidy. All courses are taught in English. Chinese language is not a requirement. We will conduct interviews at the 2015 AEA meeting in Boston.

About the Center: The CEFMS was founded in 2013 by Hunan University as an international platform for research and education in economics, finance, and management disciplines. The goal of the center is to reach 50 full-time faculty, 20 to 40 special-term, part-time faculty, 50 to 100 PhD students, and about 300 master level students. The master of economics program has started in fall 2013. The university has given full support to the growth of the center, including newly renovated offices and designated classrooms.
About Hunan University: Hunan University is located at the foot of the picturesque Yuelu Mountain and on the west bank of Xiangjiang River in the historically and culturally renowned city of Changsha, capital of Hunan Province. About City of Changsha: Changsha is the capital city of Hunan Province. The history of the city dates back to the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046-771 BC). As the center of Huxiang Culture, Changsha has been named China's “excellent tourist city”. Changsha has many unique natural scenery and places of cultural and historical interest such as Yuelu Mountain, Yuelu Academy, Xiangjiang River, Shuilushou Island, Liuyang River, Mawangdui Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) Tomb, Aiwan Pavilion, etc. Changsha has relatively inexpensive real estate price compared to other major cities in China. The city is located on the high-speed train line from Beijing to Shenzhen and its newly constructed Huanghua international airport offers easy connections with major international cities.
