1. Discipline Introduction

As a branch of Applied Economics, the study of Finance has been developed tremendously in recent years. The Master of Science in Finance Program is designed to equip students with strong analytic and quantitative skills in today's dynamic financial environment. Our distinctive program takes advantage of the joint strength of the Institute of Economics and the Institute of Finance. Besides providing a broad and in-depth curriculum in finance, the program also places strong emphasis on financial economics and quantitative methods.The program is comprised of required and elective courses. The required core courses provide prerequisite knowledge in economics, mathematics, econometrics, financial accounting and foundations of corporate finance and investments while elective courses allow students to take in-depth study of the subject that matches their interests and career objectives.The duration of the Master of finance program is three years. The first two years of the program contains course work. The third year is mainly for the completion of thesis and internship. Our curriculum not only includes courses for master of finance program in typical U.S. business schools, but also covers much of the foundation courses for the Master of Economics program.

2. Training Objectives

The aim of this program is to train highly motivated, dedicated professionals with solid professional knowledge and high moral ethics. Upon completion of the program, students should master the foundation in economics, statistics, econometrics, and finance. In addition, they should be able to skillfully use financial models and quantitative tools to analyze practical problems. After graduation, students should be competent in various research and management positions involving such as management of financial institutions, corporate financial management, and portfolio investment.

3. Fields

Students can work on the following two fields for their thesis. Under these two broad fields, they can choose different research concentrations such as Mergers and Acquisitions, Asset Pricing and Portfolio Investment, , International Investments and etc. according to their academic and career interests.
