Barbara M. Fraumeni is Senior Fellow of Hunan University, Special-Term Professor of the Central University of Economics and Finance in Beijing; Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; Research Fellow, IZA Network, IZA Institute of Labor Economics in Bonn, Germany; and Professor Emerita of the Muskie School of the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine, USA.
She retired from the University of Southern Maine in 2015, but remains an active researcher. Before coming to the Muskie School in 2005, she served as Chief Economist of the Bureau of Economic Analysis of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The recent books she edited and in which she co-authored at least one chapter are Measuring Human Capital (2021), and Measuring Economic Growth and Productivity: Foundations, KLEM Production Models, and Extensions (2019). She is currently best known for being the co-creator of Jorgenson-Fraumeni human capital.
